Microsoft has announced the official name for its new server operating system “Windows Server 2025”. This new version of Windows Server will bring with it many improvements. Recently, in some Windows server streaming, the 2025 server program was mentioned. We will start seeing this new "Windows Server 2025" by the end of 2024.

Upcoming Windows Server 2025 Hotpatch 

In this new server program, Microsoft has introduced a Windows Server Hotpatching. We have given this ability to administrators to allow them to apply security updates without the need to reboot the server. That is, during installation on the old server, a reboot was required to make changes to the file.

Other New Features with Hotpatching of "Windows Server 2025"

Microsoft plans to make hot-patching available in all editions of Windows Server 2025, including all Standard and Datacenter editions. Earlier, this feature was available to us only on Windows Server 2022 Datacenter,r likthe e the Azure edition. This will now make it easier than ever for IT teams to keep their servers updated and secure.

 In addition to hotpatching capabilities on Windows Server 2025, we will also see improvements in storage performance and support. Microsoft claims a 70% increase in IOPS when using Windows Server 2025 with NVMe storage in the new servers.

Apart from all this, we will get to see a new server, Hyper-V, faster data transfer speeds in the OS, native deduplication for storage, and support for encrypted SMB over QUIC.

Licensing models are going to appear in Windows Server 2025. Which will give us the option of a license model as well as a subscription-based, pay-as-you-go licensing. That means our upcoming Windows Server 2025 is focused on security, performance, virtualization, and licensing flexibility.
